Through the Trees was born from a series of trips Mitchell Bright took to the outskirts of rural parts of the South Island, mostly in an effort to escape the confines of the city. While Bright explored these areas, he became fascinated by places on the way to the picturesque landscape; places that are perhaps only viewed as land, not landscape. Focusing his attention on remnants of human actions woven amongst nature, the resulting body of work is a reflection of contemporary values and our respect for the environment.
Through the Trees was undertaken during Mitchell Bright’s BFA(Hons) year within the photography studio, Ilam School of Fine Arts. 2016.
